Dietetics & Nutrition
Clinical nutrition software
Connect clinical prescriptions to kitchen production. CalcMenu calculates diets, allergens, IDDSI textures and full nutrition automatically — from the patient file to the tray label.
- Dietitians calculate nutrition by hand or in separate spreadsheets.
- Patient diet prescriptions are copied to the kitchen — often with errors.
- IDDSI textures are noted on paper and misread during production.
- Allergen declarations are recopied for every meal, every day.
- Nutrition is calculated automatically from recipes and portions.
- Diet prescriptions flow directly to the kitchen production list.
- IDDSI textures are validated at order and flagged on labels.
- Allergen declarations are generated from the same recipe data.
What clinical nutrition software should do
Automatic nutrition calculation
Energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fibre, sodium and all micronutrients are calculated from your recipes and portion sizes. No manual lookup or spreadsheet formulas.
Nutrition & analysis →IDDSI texture management
Define IDDSI levels (0–7) for each recipe and patient. The system validates that only suitable textures are ordered and flags them on production lists and labels.
IDDSI textures →Allergen & intolerance tracking
The 14 EU allergens are tracked from ingredients through to patient trays. Declarations are generated automatically — no manual copying, no risk of omission.
Allergens & traceability →From diet prescription to tray label
CalcMenu connects the clinical dietitian's prescription to the kitchen's production list and the patient's tray label. One system, one source of truth — no copying, no mismatches.
- Nutrition calculated per recipe, per portion, per patient.
- IDDSI textures validated at every order and production step.
- Allergen declarations generated automatically from recipe data.
- Diet changes in the patient file update the kitchen immediately.
Frequently asked questions
- Which nutrients does CalcMenu calculate?
- Energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, saturated fat, fibre, sodium, and all micronutrients. Values are calculated from your ingredient quantities and portion sizes, using standard food composition databases.
- How does IDDSI texture management work?
- You assign an IDDSI level (0–7) to each recipe. When a patient with a specific texture requirement orders a meal, only recipes at that level are shown. The texture is also printed on the production list and tray label.
- Can it handle complex therapeutic diets?
- Yes. You can define any number of diet types — renal, diabetic, cardiac, weight-reducing, etc. Each patient is assigned one or more diets, and only suitable recipes are offered. Nutrition targets can be set per diet type.
- Does it integrate with hospital patient record systems?
- CalcMenu connects via standard outgoing connectors. We can map patient data, diet orders and ward lists from your existing system without opening inbound ports.
